- Who is builder gel actually for?
- Two groups. People whose own nails split or peel before reaching any length and want reinforcement rather than extension, and people who find acrylic too hard and unforgiving. Builder gel flexes slightly with the nail, so it tends to be more comfortable.
- Can it be applied over my own nails without tips?
- Yes, and that is the most common way it is used here. It can also be built over a tip when you want real length, but its strength is reinforcing what you already have.
- How does it compare on price and wear?
- It sits above a plain acrylic set and below a French finish. In wear it behaves much like acrylic, needing a refill at roughly two to three weeks as the nail grows out. Adding gel polish or a French tip increases both cost and appointment time.
