Good to know
- Why choose dip over acrylic or gel?
- Three reasons come up most: it sets without a UV or LED lamp, it sits thinner and lighter than a comparable acrylic set, and the colour is already in the powder so it will not chip away from the surface the way a topcoat can.
- Is the powder pot shared between guests?
- No. Powder is decanted for each guest rather than dipping the nail into a communal pot. Ask if you would like to see it done — this is the single most common concern about dip, and it is a fair one.
- How is pink and white different from a single colour?
- Pink and white is the dip version of a French: a pink base with a white free edge, built in two stages rather than painted on. It takes longer and costs more, but it grows out far more gracefully than a painted line.
- How is it removed?
- By soaking in acetone, the same as gel. It takes a little longer than a gel polish because there is more material to break down. It cannot be peeled, and trying will take nail with it.
