Good to know
- What is the difference between a French and pink and white?
- A French is a line painted at the free edge. Pink and white is the same look built structurally — a pink base and a white tip sculpted as two materials. It costs more and takes longer, but as the nail grows the line moves with it rather than drifting out of place.
- How does ombré differ from a French?
- An ombré blends the two shades into each other rather than meeting at a line, so there is no hard edge to grow out unevenly. Two colours is the standard; three adds a further blended band and more time at the desk.
- Which of these grows out best?
- Ombré, comfortably. With no defined line there is nothing to sit out of place, so it stays wearable longer between visits. Pink and white is next. A painted French shows regrowth soonest.
- Can I have a French on a shorter nail?
- Yes. A narrower tip line suits a shorter nail better than a thick one, and a micro-French — a very fine line at the edge — is a popular option when you want the look without the length.
