- Why is Gel-X considered gentler than acrylic?
- Because the natural nail is not filed down to rough it up first. The tip bonds across the full nail rather than being sculpted onto a prepared surface, so the plate underneath is left largely intact. It is the usual recommendation for anyone whose nails have been thinned by previous sets.
- How long does the appointment take compared with acrylic?
- Usually shorter. The tips come pre-shaped, so the time goes into sizing and finishing rather than sculpting each nail by hand. There is also no filing dust and no acrylic odour, which some guests care about more than the time saved.
- How is it removed, and can I re-use the length?
- Soaked off in acetone, typically faster than acrylic because soft gel breaks down more readily. The tips are not re-used — a new set goes on each time.
