- What makes solar different from ordinary acrylic?
- Solar is an acrylic system, but the powder is formulated to hold its colour rather than yellowing over weeks of sun and handwashing. That matters most on a pink-and-white or a natural look, where discolouration shows first. The application and the strength are otherwise the same.
- How long does a set last before it needs attention?
- The product itself does not break down quickly. What moves is your own nail: as it grows, a gap opens at the cuticle. Most guests come back at two to three weeks for a refill rather than a whole new set, which costs less and takes less time.
- Does it damage the natural nail underneath?
- Not when it is removed properly. Damage comes from prying a set off, not from wearing one. Book a soak-off and let a technician take it down; never lever it off at home, which pulls layers of the nail plate with it.
- Which finish should I choose?
- Plain polish is the cheapest and the easiest to change. Gel adds cost and lamp time but holds two to three weeks without chipping. French gel adds a hand-painted tip line — it is the most durable of the three and the slowest to apply.
